The Nature and Biodiversity subprogramme will focus on protecting and restoring European nature and stopping and reversing biodiversity loss. This subprogramme will continue to fund nature conservation projects, especially in the areas of biodiversity, habitats and species. Projects contributing to the implementation of the EU Birds Directive and the Habitats Directive, in particular the development and management of the Natura 2000 network and the IAS Regulation (Regulation on the Prevention and Management of the Introduction and Spread of Invasive Alien Species) will be supported, as well as the objectives of the EU Strategy for biodiversity by 2030 as part of the European Green Agenda.
