Project description:
The overall objective of install.res is to stimulate large-scale demand for heat pumps in existing buildings. We do so by demonstrating and replicating alternative and innovative business and delivery models that will make heat pump roll-out simple and affordable. The install.res project defines “delivery models” as innovative, yet replicable, heat pump systems, customised for large buildings or settlements, focusing on energy efficiency, reliability, and low invasiveness, while reducing costs and complexity, and incorporating European technology, sector coupling, and flexible operation strategies for economic viability. install.res will initiate 10-12 real-life demonstration projects where high-quality solutions will be designed, implemented, their scalability tested and performance monitored. The best and most successful solutions will then feed into the install.res fast-track scheme: a set of dedicated and tailor-made resources (e.g. procedures, manuals, tools and standards) to enable implementers to roll out heat pumps on a higher scale and speed than today. The install.res demonstration projects will be conducted with various key actors in the heat transition in Austria, the Netherlands, Slovenia, North Macedonia, and Poland (social housing associations, research institutes, energy suppliers, heat pump manufacturers, distribution companies with contract installers, associations in the field of renewable heat networks). A particular focus when developing the business models will be set on ensuring a just heat transition, where we will analyse the role of social housing associations and cooperatives in protecting vulnerable households.
