The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development (MESD) is the national contact point for the implementation of the LIFE programme in Croatia, and in 2018 it was notified and then approved the LIFE project – Capacity Building for the National Contact Point (HR NCP LIFE).

The main activities of the LIFE project Capacity Building for the National Contact Point include setting up a HELP desk, exchanging experiences and networking with national contact points and beneficiaries from other Member States, informing and educating potential applicants and key stakeholders about the LIFE Programme and advising potential applicants on project proposals. The current project continues the good results of the previous project in the current extraordinary circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, as a result of which most activities will be moved online (GoTo Webinar and GoTo Meeting platforms) as much as possible.

Prior to each LIFE call, the National Contact Point organized information workshops during the last NCP project, where it presented information to all key stakeholders and potential applicants on the current LIFE Programme 2014-2020, general programme conditions, national co-financing; thematic priorities and examples of projects, and will continue with the same activity in the upcoming program cycle.

Following the announcement of the LIFE tender, the HELP desk will organize regional workshops with the aim of preparing and assisting potential applicants to define project proposals, fill in application forms and avoid frequent mistakes. Workshops through questions and answers and exercises will be there to help in the practical part of project preparation and application according to the conditions of the LIFE programme.

The HELP desk will be available to potential applicants for expert advice services for the preparation and application of LIFE projects, which will still be able to be realized by e-mail, telephone or by organizing an advisory meeting. Work will continue to strengthen the capacity of local experts to prepare the LIFE project, which will be realized through special training workshops for trainers. The LIFE team will also coordinate the cooperation of relevant institutions in the design and preparation of integrated projects.
